About Rotaract Cavendish

We areleaders

A community of young leaders at Cavendish University, building sustainable change through service, fellowship and ethical leadership.

Our Story

From a Vision to a movement of service

The Rotaract Club of Cavendish University Zambia was founded by a group of students who believed university life should inspire leadership, service, and lasting impact beyond the classroom.

On 11 February 2025, that vision became a reality when the club was officially chartered as a Rotary International Rotaract Club. Proudly sponsored by the Rotary Club of Lusaka, we are part of the global Rotary family, united by a shared commitment to Service Above Self.

Today, we empower young leaders to develop professional skills, serve their communities, and build lifelong connections through meaningful service. What began as a simple vision has grown into a vibrant movement dedicated to creating positive change on campus, across Zambia, and beyond.

Founder's Vision

The Rotaract Club of Cavendish was founded on the belief that young people have the power to create meaningful change through service. Our mission remains to bring together individuals who are passionate about addressing community challenges, inspiring innovative ideas, and creating a lasting impact in the lives of others. This is the Magic of Rotary.

So as we continue this journey together, may we remain united by compassion, fellowship, and a shared commitment to Service Above Self, working together to build stronger communities and a better world for generations to come.

Six values that anchor our culture and guide how we serve, lead and grow together.

We exist to serve — above self, beyond ego, for community.

Integrity

We do what is right, even when no one is watching.

Diversity

We celebrate the richness of backgrounds, faiths and perspectives.

Leadership

We grow leaders who empower others to lead.

Our Culture

How we operate, week by week

A clear rhythm and structure keeps our members engaged, accountable and growing.

1

Weekly Meetings

Every Saturday from 14:00–16:00 CAT, members gather to plan projects, share updates and build fellowship.

2

Committee Structure

Five active committees — Community Service, Professional Development, Club Service, International Service and Public Relations — give every member a place to contribute.

3

Mentorship

New members are paired with experienced Rotaractors who guide them through projects, leadership and Rotaract etiquette.

4

Officer Training

Each new executive team undergoes a structured handover and training programme — so leadership transitions feel seamless.

Ethical Principles

The compass behind every decision

Two timeless frameworks — Rotary's motto and the Four-Way Test — keep our actions honest, fair and beneficial.
